Declining Trust in the Health Care System (The Trust Crisis)

Declining Trust in the Health Care System (The Trust Crisis)
Health reform is mired in the morass of multitiered payment systems and multiple modes of access, limited by the ability to seek and to pay. Increasingly, patients are interacting with multiple entities within the system, causing more and more confusion on the part of the patient. According to recent research, patients’ trust in the system, providers, and insurers continues to decline. This may result in a decline in individual health and an increase in costs for health care.
Investigate the declining trust in the health care system from an ethical and moral position. You may use the four principles plus attention to scope model of Beauchamp and Childress or any other ethical model that you choose to address this.
Complete the following:
State what model you will use to investigate this issue.
Identify 2 or more legal issues contributing to this problem.
Identify 2 or more economic and financial issues contributing to this problem.
Analyze the impact of various issues that are contributing to this problem, and rank them in order from greatest to least impact.
Propose at least 1 modification that would increase trust in the health care system with rationale

For this proposal, identify a problem area of your current organization or one in which you have previously worked (the company is above in bold) that you believe warrants a change initiative

Use what you have learned in this course to develop an 8-10 page change process proposal (excluding cover and reference pages) for your organization. Assume that you will submit this proposal to the organization for implementation.

For this proposal, identify a problem area of your current organization or one in which you have previously worked (the company is above in bold) that you believe warrants a change initiative. In your opinion, what restraining forces are blocking implementation of a change program? From an internal OD practitioner perspective, what recommendations can you make to overcome these barriers?
You should apply ideas, concepts, theories, and practices set out in the course materials as appropriate to the specific organization that you have selected. Please follow APA guidelines for citations, quotations, and references, and use at least eight scholarly resources that are dated within the last five years.
Your paper should include the following:
~2 pages: Introduction (Incorporate course objectives 1 – 3)
What is the organization and how did you select it? What is your relationship with the organization? Using a systems perspective, include any historical information about the organization and the organization’s culture that would be helpful in this context. Identify the organizational issue in need of change.
~3 pages: Need for Change (Incorporate course objectives 4 – 5)
Describe the change that needs to take place and discuss internal and external forces that represent obstacles to the change, supporting your opinion with appropriate citations. Describe the various kinds of data you would need to gather to confirm your diagnosis. What level of analysis (organization, group, or individual job) should be applied to this situation?
~3-5 pages: Proposed Solution (Incorporate course objective 6)
Create recommendations for a proposed solution. What do you believe would be an effective intervention? What forces could be harnessed to promote the change? Who should be included in the solution’s implementation? What would be considered a success? What additional approaches could be considered? What steps would you take to implement the recommended solution. Be sure to present your findings objectively, without emotion.

Change leaders and change agents have specific roles in the planning and implementation of change processes. Summarize the different tasks associated with each and provide references to substantiate your major points.

Have you ever been either a change leader or a change agent? If so, how did the culture of the organization influence your approach? If not, create a hypothetical scenario with you as a change leader and describe how the culture may influence your approach.

Be sure to support your discussion with at least 3 references plus reference from Spector, R. (2010). Implementing Organizational Change

According to the textbook, the income statement measures the success of a company’s operations for a given period.

According to the textbook, the income statement measures the success of a company’s operations for a given period. The income statement is important to investors and creditors, because it determines the profitability, investment value, and creditworthiness of a company. Specifically, the income statement helps investors and creditors predict the amounts, timing, and uncertainty of future cash. Income statement preparers can make such informed predictions by analyzing a company’s financial statements, calculating the price-earnings ratio, and reviewing notes to the financial statements on the income statement.

In order to complete this assignment, use the Internet to research and review financial statements for Exxon and Chevron for the years 2012 and 2013.

Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you:

Compare and contrast the limitations and usefulness of the single-step income statement and the multi-step income statement.
Analyze the gross profit, operating profits, and net income of both Exxon and Chevron for 2012 and 2013. Of the two (2) companies, speculate on the main reasons why one (1) company may have been more profitable than the other company.
Compute each company’s price-earnings (P / E) ratio and price-to-sales ratio (PSR). Identify primary estimates or assumptions that could result in overstated earnings, and use the ratio data to compare the quality of each company’s earnings.
Review notes to both Exxon’s and Chevron’s financial statements. Next, identify at least two (2) notes pertaining to the income statement, and explain the main way in which the notes in question could influence your decision to invest in each of the companies. Provide a rationale to justify your decision.
Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

Analyze the functions and the main sections of the four (4) primary financial accounting statements: the income statement, the statement of retained earnings, the balance sheet, and the statement of cash flows.
Prepare the main sections of the four (4) primary financial accounting statements: the income statement, the statement of retained earnings, the balance sheet, and the statement of cash flows.
Use technology and information resources to research issues in intermediate accounting
Write clearly and concisely about intermediate accounting using proper writing mechanics.

Major pros and cons of a reward system are pretty simple and clear

Major pros and cons of a reward system are pretty simple and clear. Pro, getting students to do what you need them to do. Con, the students then want something in return when the teacher asks them to do something. These are the two main pros and cons that every teacher today has to deal with. Students always want something for nothing. But, when it comes to a competition, sometimes that can have pros and cons as well. Like a team effort kind of project. Say the teacher separates the class into four groups, and has one prize for the group that finishes on time first. The students will work hard, that is not a doubt, but students will also work dirty and find ways to sabotage the other students. This is where the cons come in. Students that are competitive are going to want to win at any cost, and sometimes this kind of thing can turn ugly, and this is where the teacher needs to set some ground rules to keep things clean. Teachers can always convince a student to do their homework in a different language and win a candy bar, or a day of free homework pass. Problem is, students are going to start expecting this kind of reward for their efforts. I believe the reward system should be carefully used, and make sure that ground rules are set, or the teacher is going to find themselves being walked all over by their very own students.

It is incumbent on the researcher to clearly define the target population. Sometimes, the entire population is small enough to be included in the study. In other instances, the population is too large for the researcher to attempt to survey all of its members

Sampling Methodology
It is incumbent on the researcher to clearly define the target population. Sometimes, the entire population is small enough to be included in the study. In other instances, the population is too large for the researcher to attempt to survey all of its members. Therefore, a small, but carefully chosen sample is used to represent the population. The sample is the actual group targeted either directly or indirectly and reflects the characteristics of the population from which it is drawn.
Using the Internet, research, analyze, and select at least two articles on sampling methodology used in public health research studies.
Note: The articles should not be more than two years old.
Based on the articles identified, create a 2- to 3-page Microsoft Word document that includes the following:
A synopsis on the perspective of the sampling methodology used in your selected articles related to public health research studies.
Your opinion on whether the sampling method used in each of your chosen articles is appropriate for its target population. Justify your response.
An explanation of the potential advantages and disadvantages of the sampling plan used in your selected articles.
Support your responses with examples.
Cite any sources in APA format.

Statistical Techniques discusses correlation and linear regressions. By comparing several variables we are able to see if there is a relationship between the data or if it is unrelated.

2. 2. Chapter 13 of Statistical Techniques discusses correlation and linear regressions. By comparing several variables we are able to see if there is a relationship between the data or if it is unrelated. Using a scatter diagram would be the easiest method to visually see this. This is very useful chapter for me to help analyze our sales. For example, I can look into if length of appointment times has any correlations to our optical sales and if they affect our unit sale per patient numbers. While we want to ensure the best care, we need to be mindful of our patients time while also meeting our sales goals.

4. 4. In the stats in action article of the text on page 470 it addresses that women make 70% of what men make for equal roles. I am not a feminist but I have studied why women make less than men and my conclusion is that it’s a woman fault in most cases that she makes less than a man. Women accept less and they don’t negotiate without fear when they negotiate their salary. I read a book by Sheryl Sandburg called “Lean In” and it states women lean out of their careers rather than lean into their careers and they say that its because they value flexibility to raise a family the reason they accept less. It’s a great book that changes the way I think about this topic. I have worked for an employer that underpaid me in comparison to my male counterparts and I myself accepted this because I was pregnant and wanted the flexibility to leave when I needed to take care of a child. Right or wrong I was the person who accepted this and didn’t leave the company till I wanted more.

5. 5. The weekly video on correlation and causality points out how as a reader of a study we need to understand the difference between cause and effect relationships. The article in the video stated a few claims that were correlated not causalities. For example people who ate more breakfast were less overweight then breakfast skippers. This statement is implying that skipping breakfast causes overweight or obesity. That is not what this research concluded. This research concluded that there is a correlation between skipping breakfast and weight gain. These two variables are observed at the same time but certainly the study does not prove one cause the other. It is a very different way to interpolate the article.V

What factors should be considered as we formulate our foreign policy response to the Arab Spring?

Consider the Arab Spring that began at the end of 2010:

(1) What factors should be considered as we formulate our foreign policy response to the Arab Spring?

The factors that should be considered to the foreign policy response to the Arab Spring are to regain the diplomatic relationship amongst the Arab Spring nations and secure them the support from the United States and other countries including Asian countries such as China which does not have the same democratic values as the United States. Allen Keiswetter of the Middle East Institute stated that President Obama current foreign policy of the Arab Spring is not a cookie cutter type policy. That following his predecessor’s policies alone will not feel the voids that must be filled in order to have a stable Middle East (Keiswetter, 2012). It is important that America continues to support the core interests in the region: “countering terrorism and stopping the spread of nuclear weapons; securing the free flow of commerce and safe-guarding the security of the region; standing up for Israel’s security and pursuing Arab-Israeli peace” (Keiswetter, 2012). The Arab spring is a chaining environment that must be controlled by foreign policies in order to sustain the up rise of democracy. However, creating a diplomatic policy to feel the voids of the current policy must also be supported by other countries by means of monetary value or military power assistance. The United States alone should not be the sole responsible party of the Arab Spring. Another factor that should be considered ae the U.S formulates a response is to what extent the U.S should contemplate military intervention in bloody and deteriorating situations.

visit a religious site not your own. This could be a synagogue, a Christian church, a mosque, or a temple

Field Trip Report

you are required to visit a religious site not your own. This could be a synagogue, a Christian church, a mosque, or a temple. The purpose of this trip is to report on what you saw -normally a religious service—and how it compares to your own religious upbringing and/or current practice.

The report should give a description of the site and a detailed summary of the religious service. Describe what you observed. What were the material expressions of the service (statues, paintings, music, etc). Was there anything special going on that day (e.g., baptisms)? If there was a sermon, analyze it. In brief, make it "up close and personal." Conclude with your personal reaction to this experience.

This paper should be at least three (3) pages in length (1050 words) with proper APA formatting. This includes proper documentation. This is a formal academic paper so pay careful attention to the basics of writing a good English composition. Need a reference and a cover page

One question that shook American politics from the ratification of the Constitution and the beginning of the Civil War was the role of slavery in American society. Discuss the ways American political leaders and their constituents sought to resolve the problems that the controversy over slavery seemed to generate

The problem will be PTSD due to sexual trauma/rape.

Students will select two theories (individual OR family) of interest (any theory that appears below) and write a critical analysis (conceptualization) of each as it pertains to a problem in your own life. You will apply these two theories to ONE problem you have encountered in your own life/family, either recently or in the past. This will be used as the basis for a case presentation in which the student will apply each theory to the one problem. The students will give a brief presentation of their work to the class, focusing on the case and the interventions they selected in their paper. The presentation will discuss your level of differentiation as it pertains to your family, relationships and relationship with self.

Your paper should be a minimum of 5 pages and max is 7 pages. See below for the break down of what I am expecting on these pages:

Page #1: explain ONE problem in your life or in your family

After reading through the week’s lesson, I selected the following principles for the adaptation of how I plan on teaching.

The first one was number one the Learning Profile or how the different students learn best. Some may learn better in groups by listening and interacting with one another and there are those who need to sit alone reading the class information. We all have our ways we learn best for instance, I cannot sit in a room with someone who is listening to music. I am a typical man and will start paying attention to the distraction of the music. I have sat in a room when someone was listening to music (singing parts of it) and watching instructional math videos….All I could think is there is no way they were absorbing the info.

The second would be the fourth one, the student’s Emotions. This plays a large part in whether or not we succeed even as adults. The uncertainty is something most of us cannot handle and it can cause us to fail before we even attempt a task. It will be our jobs to ensure we keep them positive during the entire process of learning even when they get things wrong. Overall the school environment should be as fun and rewarding as possible.

The last would be the seventh one. The rhyme in the first line in the book caught my attention with “Learning for retention requires focus and extended attention.” (Sousa, D & Tomlinson, C. 2011. P.15) I believe that if you make learning meaningful it is more accepting by those who my struggle in the first place. This goes along with the way the information is presented. If I sound like the teacher from the 1986 movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off there would be nothing learned.

All three of these has something to do with how students learn whether it be patterns, the way the lesson is presented or even the mindset of the class during and after a lesson or test. With diverse learners this may be a challenge for the everyday teacher. The more we understand the difference in them and how they learn the quicker we will be able to reach them individually.

Annotate the poem (see sample). Underscore and define unfamiliar vocabulary, note formal elements, identify the speaker, situation, etc. • Answer the questions labeled “Formalist Questions.

Read the discussion about responding to literature included in Chapter 27 (684-718). Since this is NOT a research assignment, we will be using the model papers in that chapter as guides for how to select a topic and also create a thesis about a poem. You are being asked to use the critical skills you are learning to create your own interpretation of a poem.

• Annotate the poem (see sample). Underscore and define unfamiliar vocabulary, note formal elements, identify the speaker, situation, etc.

• Answer the questions labeled “Formalist Questions.”

• Also answer any other set of questions listed in two categories. Select one category of analysis and answer all the questions in that category; repeat the process for another category.

• Begin drafting your paper, going slowly, so that it conforms to the requirements mentioned on page 704 regarding a “coherent reading.” Your essay must comment on each line of the poem and it must include an introductory paragraph that provides an overview and thesis statement.

• Your draft should be 2-3 pages long and make many textual references.

• Please include a “Works Cited” page. While you are not required to do additional research, be sure to cite any other sources that you use in your paper.

• Rehearse reading the poem aloud, noting the time that it takes you to recite it.  Be sure that you look up unfamiliar vocabulary and proper names so that you can recite them correctly.

People often take shortcuts in problem solving and quickly arrive at answers. Known as heuristics, these shortcuts may increase the speed of decisions but may also decrease the accuracy of those decisions. The experiment used in this assignment deals with inaccurate decisions based on the conjunction fallacy, where people think the chance of two events happening at the same time is greater than just one event occurring. However, the chance of one event occurring is greater than two events occurring; hence, the fallacy.
Access the CogLab demonstration Typical Reasoning. Follow the instructions to complete the demonstration. Next, answer the following questions:
For this demonstration, on average, do participants give higher ratings for single events or conjunctions of events? Based on the demonstration results, did you make your judgments by using objective probabilities? Why or why not?
What is a stereotype? How do stereotypes relate to the findings of this demonstration?

Employee Health Insurance Plans

Employee Health Insurance Plans
Part I
Consider the four health plans below with an eye to choosing one to offer to the company’s employees. Assume that the health plans and their annual per employee premiums are as follows:
Health Plan
Premium, Individual
Premium, Family
Aetna Health
$4,555
$11,428
MetroPlus
$4,267
$10,540
Empire
$4,217
$10,767
Oxford
$6,029
$13,417
The employer will pay 80% of the premium for individual coverage, and the employee will pay the remaining 20% as well as the entire additional premium for family coverage. (The premiums listed above, while realistic in magnitude, are hypothetical and computed solely for the purpose of this project.) All of the plans are managed care plans. Assume that the benefit package is the same across all plans, so there is no difference between them in what services are covered.
In addition to the above data, click here to view and investigate the Online Report on Quality Performance Results in New York State, the latest report card issued by the New York State Department of Health, 2013, and incorporate the information into your evaluation.
You can view the various categories of measures on which health plans are rated (e.g., Access to Care, Adult Living with Illness, etc.). Click each link for a summary chart that presents the performance (usually as a percentage score) of each plan in the group on the relevant measures and how each plan compares to regional and statewide scores.
Submit a 2-page analysis in a Microsoft Word document that outlines the plan you selected and why. Generally, you would select the plan with the highest score, but if you chose a plan with a lower score, explain why. Include the following elements in your analysis:
Explain which factors (e.g., price and/or performance measures) were most important to your choice of plan and how you derived the weights for each factor you used.
Indicate, on a scale of 1 to 10, how comfortable or confident you are that you made the right choice, with 10 being most confident.
Part II
You need to use the multiattribute utility (MAU) technique to respond to the following questions. Although the technique can be performed with pencil and paper, it is recommended you use a Microsoft Excel to do the various calculations involved.
Click the following links to access the information on using the MAU technique:
MAU Model
MAU Example
Compare your level of confidence at the time you completed Part I to your confidence level for Part II, when you used this decision aid.
Was it helpful? What were its advantages and disadvantages?
Did it make the decision harder to make or easier to justify?
Support your responses with examples.
